Leighton Farms
Fiber Mill
We started out as a small, family-owned farm situated on 57 acres in eastern
Oregon in 2000, where we raised our sheep and llamas. We specialized in
Romney wool, since it is some of the easiest to work with for beginner
spinners. However, we also had Corriedale, Cormo, and Merino on site and we
were continuously trying to improve our wool quality. We began to hand
process our own wool and fiber.  We established an Internet business through
e-bay and our sales began to grow.  As we got deeper and deeper into the fiber
business it became apparent that it was our true Calling. We were both
mobilized with the US Army Reserve in 2003 and spent the next 2 ½ years at
Fort Carson, Colorado.  During that time we found the City of Victor, CO and
decided it would be an ideal place to establish our own cottage industry fiber
mill.

Now once again Tom has been mobilized and this time sent to Fort Bliss, TX.
We have again relocated our mill to Chaparral, New Mexico, just 15 minutes
north of El Paso, TX.

All our fiber is hand-washed (scoured), picked and carded with state of the art
equipment, assuring optimal quality control. We mechanically remove as much
veggie matter and guard hair as possible.  We do not use sulfuric acid. All
dying is done in a kettle on the stove top!

Our wool is sold in both our on-line store and in our eBay store .
Customer comments have been very positive.
